Initially, I was having such a hard time trying to maneuver around this Nikon D3200 DSLR camera with the settings in terms of aperture, ISO, frame rates of 60 mp, 30 mp, 24 mp and what they can do to you videos in cinematic or slow-mo etc. When I tell you, google and YouTube have been my friend, I mean just that. “Jana” I was bumper to bumper with some tech education and I can say I am more wiser today knowing what I know now about my new toy. The struggle is real.

Anyway, am just from recording this smoothie video this morning since it was supposed to happen yesterday, but I had a tech class I was attending to. Here I am putting my theory to practicals as I created this delicious looking video as it serves as my breakfast.

We are all so familiar with the term smoothies and the countless ingredients and recipes you can come up with. From fruits, nuts, veggies, dairy, super foods like protein powders that can be blended up to come up with an incredible – edible drink with different nutritional values to either sooth both your body and soul or just your appetite. This recipe of a chunky monkey banana smoothie is for the mind, body, soul and appetite.

Here’s is what you’ll need:

Prep time: 5 mins   Blend time: 1 min  Total time: 6 mins

Yields: 1 500 ml mason jar

Serves: 1 pax

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 sliced frozen bananas
  • 3/4 cup of whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon of honey
  • 1 Tablespoon of smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of dark cocoa powder

Extra for garnish/ props:

  • Chopped raw cashew nuts
  • melted chocolate
  • heart shaped sprinkles
  • chia seeds
  • fresh bananas

Important tools used:

  • Blender
  • Measuring bowls

Instructions:

Step 1: Always start adding the liquids near the blade anytime you are blending juice or smoothies. Then after goes in all the powders  and the sold ingredients. Cover the blender and mix everything together until you have the right consistency you are looking for.

Step 2: Garnish the mason jar: Dip the rim into the melted chocolate and garnish it with the chopped cashew nuts. Add the remaining melted chocolate inside and sides of the mason jar.

Step 3: Fill the mason jar with the smoothie. Pour in the smoothie into the jar until the brim. Topped it up with chia seeds, nuts and sprinkles.

Step 4: Serve, toast and drink up.
