I’m the biggest fan of Laura Vitale of Laurainthekitchen. She is a self taught home cook food Vlogger and You tuber from Italy and her love for food is beyond this world. Yes, she might have inspired this article.

Yesterday, after my post on Tropical mojito, I was thinking of preparing a sweet cinnamon type of pastry for my next article. I normally get most of my food inspiration from other foodie Vloggers and Pinterest. There is so much out there that we all could learn from. I just love to research about food in general. I kept on stumbling upon a lot of post on cinnamon rolls. Before I made up my mind, I checked out the ingredients and I had all them at hand – so I didn’t have to buy anything new, hence settling for cinnamon rolls.

A Cinnamon roll is a sweet roll served commonly in Northern Europe and North America. It’s a common breakfast and dessert in North America. Its main ingredients are flour, cinnamon, sugar, and butter, which provide a robust and sweet flavor. In some places it is often served with cream cheese or icing.

Making “Cinnamon Rolls”
Prep time: 30 min Natural Magic happens: 2 hr -45 mins Bake time: 30 mins
Total time: 3 hrs – 45 mins
Yields: 16 pieces
MAIN INGREDIENTS:
- 4 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tea spoon of salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of warm water
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of melted -unsalted butter
- 1/2 tea spoon of vanilla extract
- 2- 1/4 tea spoon of instant yeast
For the Filling:
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1- 1/2 tea spoon of cinnamon
Other:
- 1/3 cup of melted – unsalted butter
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and 1 Table spoon of granulated sugar. Sprinkle instant yeast on top and let it sit for 5 mins.
2. If you have a stand mixer – You are a lucky person and it does make life much easier”. If you don’t have a stand mixer – Work with me here:
In a large bowl – add in the egg + milk + salt + granulated sugar + melted unsalted butter. -Mix these together. Add in half of the all purpose flour + the yeast mixture {Once its formy then its ready to be used} + vanilla extract. -Mix everything together till all is incorporated. Add the rest of the flour to form a smooth slightly sticky dough. {Add some milk if the the dough is still floury}.
3. In a large bowl, add some vegetable oil to it and smear it all over till the sides. Take the sticky dough and place it in the oiled bowl and rub it off in top of the dough. Cover the bowl with cling foil – place in a warm spot for 2 hrs – for Natural magic to happen.
4. In a small bowl, – mix brown sugar + cinnamon = set it a side we will use it for the filling.
5. 2 hours down the line: your dough should look exactly like this.
Your kitchen will literary be smelling boozy, the dough will have risen twice the size and the texture will be very soft. Punch the dough right in the middle, to allow air out. Flour the surface – using your fingers, spread the dough out into a rectangular shape and the dough should be larger than your casserole dish.
Grease your casserole dish with soften butter. -I’m using a 8×8 inch dish
6. Smear soften un salted butter on the dough from corner to corner.- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar all over to cover the butter.
7. Start rolling firmly from the long sides into a jelly roll. Cut the roll into 16 pieces of the same size. Place the pieces into a buttered casserole dish.
8. Cover the rolls with cling foil for 45 mins for them to rise and double in size before baking them.
After 45 mins, the rolls would be bigger and fluffier.
Apply melted butter on top of the rolls and place them in the oven.
Pre -heat the oven to 180 Degrees Celsius.
Let’s get baking: – for 30 mins.
This recipe needs a lot of patience and it takes a lot of time.
Much love,
TD.
