“Change is good, different and scary at the same time, since I love my comfort zone”.

I’ve got to mention that I’m officially in the “dot com” community. No more word press, but its highly possible you will be kinda miss it. Yes!! my blog is a website and am already getting comfortable with the new change  thanks to my tech guy -Joseph.

……anyway, it feels like a decade since I last had meatballs curry or gravy for that matter, but I just had to prepare me some “sugar and spice” this past weekend. I can’t go two days without having spicy food, whether home cooked or dining out-I just got to have so some of that. Its basically the same feeling as those who can’t do without chocolate or wine. My craving to savory dishes is beyond my taste buds.

Let’s make “Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce.”

Prep time: 5 mins  Cook time: 40 mins  Total  time – 45 mins

Yields/ serves = 2 pax

*Main Ingredients*

-200 g of lean beef

-1 beaten egg

-3/4 cup of breadcrumbs

-1/2 cup of boiled peas

-1/2 a lemon {juice}

-1/2 a stick of butter

-1 diced onion

-4 diced tomatoes

-1 tsp of tomato paste

-5 cloves of chopped garlic

-grated ginger

-1 grated carrot

-1 Tablespoon of sugar

*Ground spices*

Paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne chili flakes, coriander and ginger.

  1. Mix all the main ingredients into a bowl. Once done, make balls out of the lean beef to size of a “golf ball” and set aside.

2. Pre- heat the pan with vegetable oil. Shallow fry the meatballs for 6 -8 mins each till all is golden brown – then set aside. Make sure not to crowd them, since it will take longer for them to cook.

3. Making the sauce: These are the ingredients.

In a skillet /sufuria, add the 1/2 stick of butter, then the onions, grated ginger and garlic. Fry them for 6 mins until they are translucent, then add in the tomatoes. – combine.

4. Once it starts getting mashy add in the grated carrot, season to taste, 1 Table spoon of sugar to add in the sweet taste, then add in 1/4 cup of hot water and let it simmer for 5 mins.

5. Add in the boiled peas and give it another 10 mins to simmer. Add in the meatballs in and cover it with the sauce. Add in 1/4 cup of hot water, cover and let it simmer for another 5-8 mins.

When ready, remove from the heat and set aside.

FYI: Decided to serve the meatballs sauce with Rice with carrots and raisins.

NB: Yes, as my phone indicates, I was having my dinner yesterday at 7.21 pm. 🙂
