This is my first very dish at my new house.

If you follow me on my social media platforms, you will notice I was a quite excited to getting a ” new house to call home” and currently am in a happy place. More details for another article.

Yesterday, I managed to prepare a special dish that I wasn’t quite sure how it would turn out to be, thought the outcome was delish.

How I prepared my “Mince beef – cabbage rolls“.

Ingredients:

– 1 full cabbage {14 to 16 leaves}

– 1/2 kg of mince beef

-1/2 cup chopped red onions

-tomato paste

– Canned Tomato chunks {Can use fresh tomatoes}

– 1 tsp of salt

– 1 tsp garlic powder

– 1 tsp of black pepper

– grated lemon zest

– grated Parmesan cheese

– 1 glass of 4 cousin white wine

Total time preparation : 1 hr 20 mins max

Method 1:

Preparing the cabbage.

1. Boil a pot of water for about 10 mins, remove the full leaves of the cabbage and immerse them whole into the boiled water.

2. Leave them in for about 3 mins, then remove and place them on a chopping board to drain water and cool off. {The water is not to cook them, but to make them soft but not mushy – for easy rolling}

Cabbage-Leaves 3. When the leaves have cooled off, using a knife , cut out the hard base and throw them.

Preparing the mince beef.

1. Medium heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to a pot, add in the red onions then stir until golden brown.

2. Add in a small amount of mince beef and stir until all the mixture is combined. Cover the pot and let it cook for 25 mins.

3. After 25 mins, stir the mixture then add in the powdered seasoning and some chunks of canned tomatoes. Cover it up for another 10 mins.

4. Prepare another pot, medium heat it and add in the 2 tablespoons of oil. Add in the tomato chunks and stir. {This will the the sauce}

5. Checking on the first pot, give a little stir to the mixture. Then remove it off from the heat and let it cool.

6. On to the second pot, add in the powdered seasoning stir and  give it 2 mins to heat up. Add in a 1/2 cup of water. Allow it to simmer for 5 mins.

7. When it a bit thicker, add in a glass of white wine, grated lemon zest and stir as it continues to simmer.

8. Remove it from the heat when ready.

9. Using the dry cooked beef {Pot 1} Stuff the cabbage and make rolls. Using the {pot 2} immerse the stuffed cabbage into the sauce, sprinkle the grated cheese and reheat it again for 3 mins.

10. When ready, Serve them while still hot and with bread.
