A bowl of oatmeal preferably eaten each morning provides a wealth of minerals such as copper, manganese and iron not forgetting B -vitamins. However the real benefits of oatmeal comes from the soluble fiber in oats called beta glucan. Beta glucan feeds the healthy bacteria in our gut which in turn helps our immune system, lowers cholesterol and may even protect against cancer.

I call myself lucky in this situation because the management of Bio food Products Kenya sent me a couple of their products to sample and part of them are used in today’s post. I’m so honored to try out part of their products literary for the first time, and what better way to start than with my top four favorite overnight oatmeal dishes.

Since I’ve stepped away but not completely from consuming bread or pastry like products in the morning with my normal medicine which is a cup of white coffee, it has only been a month now that I have been on this overnight oatmeal journey and these combo really helped me to stay full half of the day and avoid cravings. This is why I’m excited to share with y’all my top four favorite oatmeal recipes. Hoping you will try these recipes and implement them in your dietary, since they have a tone of beneficial factors for the body.

Shall we get down to business?

Overnight oatmeal Prep – 4 ways

Courtesy of Bio Food Products -Kenya

Prep time: 5 mins    Chill time: Over night

#1: Blueberry lime Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of old fashion rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • 3 Tablespoons of blueberry yogurt
  • 3 Tablespoons of lime yogurt

Garnish:

  • Fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon of blueberry yogurt

Instructions:

Step 1:

First, mix all the ingredients into a medium sized bowl until well combined. If you feel the mixture is too dry or vice versa, add milk or add more of the dry ingredients and mix together. Transfer the mixture into either a mason glass jar or clear cup with a lid. Cover and store in the icebox – aka – fridge over night.

Step 2:

In the morning it should be ready. What I normally do is remove from the fridge and let it come to room temp on the counter-top for 15 mins, then garnish. Its’s definitely up to you to decide if you want to eat it right from the jar or place on a bowl and garnish it from there. I stick with the jar, am too lazy to wash many dishes especially in the morning, but hey, whatever tickles your fancy.

I love everything lime or lemon flavored mostly with desserts. I would have to settle with the lime at the bottom as my favorite -favorite yummy flavored yogurt courtesy of Bio Foods Product Kenya.
