Rice cakes are the ultimate snacks for both kids and adults. They have a common similarity which is the circular white or brown rice cake base. Your creativity to add different but colorful, sweet, savory or healthy toppings depends on you or your kids taste buds. Personally, I have become such a huge fan of these snacks especially during breakfast dishes. Its my way of avoiding sliced bread. The fun part is  that you can have them on the go or as a snack anytime of the day. This is one of the many ways to eat clean and reduce the carbs intake.

Presenting : Two favorite flavors of rice cakes.

>Spiced savory rice cakes

Serves – 2 pax

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

Fruity Rice Cakes

  • 2 pieces of rice cakes
  • Slices of banana
  • Avocado – mashed
  • Seedless grapes
  • 1 kiwi fruit – sliced

Spiced Savory Rice cakes.

  • 2 pieces of rice cakes
  • Peanut butter
  • Chilli sauce
  • Raisins
  • Sesame seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Spread peanut butter – act as a glue- on each rice cake, add chili sauce + top it up with raisins and sprinkle sesame seeds {Optional} Instead you can used Desiccated shredded coconut.
  2. Mash cut out avocado season with salt /pepper, this will act as a spread and glue to the rice cakes. Top it up with the sliced grapes, bananas and kiwi fruit. Serve!!

 

Final outcome:

You can buy the rice cakes at any Nakumatt supermarket for KSH 165 or less than $2. Its very affordable, so you have no excuse of not prepping these snacks.
