It feels like last month was the last time I posted, but I have been away working on different projects as well as planing to start a baked foodie section. Its totally out of my comfort zone but change is definitely good. Hopefully soon is when I get to share those recipes with you guys.
Since the weekend, I have been having sausages in the fridge and I always get tired of eating them the same way. For me it does get boring and I end up avoiding that food altogether. Instead of avoiding it since its one of my favorite breakfast dishes,I searched for other ways to prepare them and I came across “corn dogs”. I watched a number of different foodie videos on how to make them, and I knew I had to try it out with the ingredients available to me at that time.
Corn dog is a sausage, usually a hot dog coated in a thick layer of cornmeal batter and on a stick.
Making ‘Spicy Corn Dogs’.
MAIN INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Cup of self raising flour
- 7 sausages {cooked}
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 -1/2 tsp of chili flakes
- 1 tsp of black pepper
- Vegetable oil – deep frying
- BBQ skewers
- A tall glass
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Mix all the dry ingredients together. Add the wet ingredients together then mix with the dry, until a thick batter is formed.
2. Pre -heat the vegetable oil on a skillet or pan on medium high heat. The oil has to be very hot. Pour in the thick batter into a tall glass. Stick in the BBQ {Barbecue} skewers right in the middle of the sausages.
3. Deep in the sausage into the batter and immediately place it in the hot oil to cook for 3 -6 mins for each side until they brown. {Avoid crowding the pan}.
4. Once they are ready, place them on paper towels and let them drain off.
Serve immediately.
I previously prepared -potato wedges, then threw in a few pieces on to this plate.
Love and Love.
