I’m having a vibe that Friday’s post should be more of beverages rather than just food, be it, alcoholic or non alcoholic and hot or cold drinks. Since Friday is basically the start of the weekend and most of you go out to unleash all the stress of the week, while a few of us are out of that phase, I thought showing you a few tricks on the drink section is going to help some of us not feel left out. What better way to continue this journey than with some hot beverage, that everyone should be aware of and that is hot cocoa or hot chocolate. This recipe that I am about to share is not your typical hot cocoa, it more on the healthier side, using healthier ingredients with the help of a power tool that is the blender and it absolutely delicious so is every other possible drink I’ve shared with you guys.

Unlike most if not all hot chocolate drinks contain sugar and milk, but this one has none of those ingredients. You guys are in for a cheerful pillow talk type of drink. Did I also mention it keeps you full for at least 4 hours? No need for that salad or burger anytime soon. It’s the perfect Friday treat, you deserve it sweetie”.

Here is what you’ll definitely need for this recipe.

Prep time: 5 mins  Blending time: 1 min   Total time: 6 mins

Yields: 1 – 500 ml mason jar

Serves: 1 pax

Main Ingredients:

  • 500 ml of hot water
  • 1/4 cup of raw cashew nuts
  • 6 dates – pitted and sliced
  • 1-1/2 Tablespoons of unsweetened dark cocoa powder
  • 1 heap – Tablespoon of salted peanut butter
  • Melted chocolate – Glass rim garnish – OPTIONAL
  • Chopped mixed nuts – Glass rim garnish – OPTIONAL
  • Whipping cream – garnish – OPTIONAL
  • Heart shaped edible sprinkles – garnish – OPTIONAL
  • Lunch bar chocolate – garnish – OPTIONAL

Important tools used:

  • Powerful blender
  • 500 ml glass mason jar
  • piping bag fitted with a star shaped nozzle

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep the ingredients in a blender – Add the most liquid near the blade of the blender, then add all the rest of the ingredients mentioned – ie. – cashews, dates, cocoa powder, peanut butter. Pulse everything together for at least a minute, without any lumps etc.

Step 2: Garnish the mason jar – dipping the glass rim into melted chocolate, then next into a a bowl with chopped mixed nuts. Spoon the left over melted chocolate at the inside sides of the mason jar, just as shown in the video above.

Step 3: Serve – by pouring in the blended hot cocoa to the garnished mason jar until an inch to the rim. Pipe out the whipping cream as garnish at the top of the mason jar. Feel free to add any extra garnishes necessary.

Step 4: Place in a straw and drink up. It literary tastes so much of a drinkable peanut butter, the whipping cream adds a little or mild touch of sweetness that is just perfect to warm you up and be in spirits of calm. If you prefer to stay away from sweet drinks, this right here is blissful pillow talk”.
