These waffle pops feel like a giant lollipop explosion.

Its Instagram worthy!!

This recipe is basically inspired by Sweet CombForts, which is located in Irvine, California – “the home of Waffle pop” where each piece cost $5.95 = KSH 612. They are such a decadent sweet treat, and I just had to bring it to #TastieDine and help you and I figure out why this treat is such a foodie trend on both Instagram and Pinterest. This is the high definition of stepping up in the food game. Basically what happens at the sweet combforts is each waffle is dipped in cookie butter, coated with a variety of your favorite toppings, and drizzled with chocolate and powdered sugar. Don’t think about the calories, this is one of those cheat day” foodie posts that you are dying to make for yourself. By the way,”Karibu sana” {Welcome} if you are a new visitor or subscriber.

For once your life, let’s not have waffles with cutlery, but with a “plain Jane”  popsicle stick. As many refer these treat as “Waffles on a stick” we are going back to being BASIC. Ignore that!! Anyway, I decided to use the ingredients available in my pantry, and I came up with six different flavors without breaking the bank. Let’s get started.

Making “ Waffle Pops – 6 Different flavors”

Prep time: 5 mins  Cook time:  20 mins  Total time = 25 mins

Yields – 12 pieces

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

For Waffles Batter:

Dry:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Wet:

  • 3 eggs -at room temp
  • 1 -1/2 cups of milk – at room temp
  • 4 Tablespoons of vegetable cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Tools required & used:

  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 6 same sized bowls
  • butter knife
  • popsicle sticks
  • Rubber spatula
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Dry & Wet ingredients

In separate mixing bowls, mix the dry and wet separately first, then add the wet to the dry and combine till you get a wet and thick batter.

Step 2: Divide the batter

Get the 6 bowl and divide the batter into equal portions. In each bowl, we will add different flavored ingredients and waffle them.

Step 3: The Flavors:

Flavor #1: – OREO CRUNCH – Waffle Pops

  • 3 oreo cookies crushed
  • waffle batter

Mix the ingredients together and set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Flavor #2: – BIRTHDAY CAKE – Waffle Pops

  • 2 Tablespoons of confetti sprinkles
  • waffle batter

Mix the ingredients together and set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Flavor #3: – COFFEE – Waffle Pops

  • 1 Teaspoon of water
  • 1 teaspoon of instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • waffle batter

First, dissolve the coffee granules in water + add honey, add the mixture to the waffle batter, set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Flavor #4: – MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP – Waffle Pops

  • 2 Tablespoons of milk chocolate chips
  • a drop of mint green gel food color
  • a drop of peppermint extract
  • waffle batter

Mix the ingredients together and set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Flavor #5: – LEMON & COCONUT – Waffle Pops

  • 2 Tablespoons of desiccated shredded coconut
  • a drop of yellow gel paste food color
  • a drop of lemon extract
  • waffle batter

Mix the ingredients together and set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Flavor #6: – BLUEBERRY – Waffle Pops

  • Fresh blueberries {Washed first & coated with a teaspoon of flour}
  • waffle Batter

Mix the ingredients together and set aside. If the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk – ONLY IF NEED BE.

Step 4:  Preheat the waffle iron & waffle them

When the green light turns off, the waffle iron is ready for use. My waffle iron has two sides and they are square in shape. NB: Don’t fill the whole square with the batter. I just added a Tablespoon of the batter on each square and closed it up to cook for 2 mins per flavor or until golden brown and crunchy on the outside. Once all are cooked, set them aside to cool completely.

Step 5: Assemble them:

Using the popsicle sticks, gently insert them from one end of the waffle pop half way and letting the other half stick out.

Step 6: Garnish to your liking
