Initially as planned, this video was to be of a dessert dish, but if you do follow me on my Instagram, you should know by now that the plan and recipe did back fire on me. I was quite irritated and annoyed to think about starting it all over again, since it had a long process and my patience at that time was totally deflated. I went back to my drawing board – aka ” my scribbled recipe book to look for an interesting recipe to tackle and I stumbled upon the lasagna dish. Beside it was an underlined name of my cousin Jeremy who requested this a while back, but I never got to it until now.

This recipe is not only dedicated to Jeremy, but to all those who have been dying to try this dish out. Now you have no excuse not to try it out. Remember, whenever you make a version of any of my recipes, make sure to tag me on either of my socials with the hashtag – #TastieDineRecipes and I will definitely make sure to check your brilliant work and give you a shout out -{ S/O}. How about that?!

Using a lame man’s language, lasagna are wide flat rectangular shaped pasta. They to be boiled first in salty water, then layered up in a meat sauce alternated with a variety of cheese mix and baked.

Making my “World’s best lasagna” dish

Prep time: 1 hour  Bake time: 1 hour  Cooling time: 20 mins

Total time: 2 hours 20 mins

Serves: 4 pax

MAIN INGREDIENTS:

  • Lean minced beef
  • 9 lasagna noodles sheets
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of chopped feta cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 can of Italian sauce
  • Spices: Salt + Ginger + garlic + cayenne chili

Important tools used:

  • An oven
  • casserole dish
  • aluminium foil
  • mixing bowls
  • a wooden spoon
  • sauce pan
  • chopping board + knife

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepping the lasagna noodles

In a medium sized sauce pan, bring water to boil over high heat. Add some salt. I used 9 sheets of lasagna. Cover and wait for 25 mins until they are cooked through. Drain the hot water, rinse the and immerse them in cold water and set aside until they are ready for use.

Step 2: Cook the meat

In a sauce pan over medium high heat, place the minced beef in and try breaking them apart. Cover and let it cook for 15 mins. You don’t want to see any red part of the meat. Add in your Italian sauce + 1 cup of water. Mix everything  together, cover and let it cook for 35 mins or until all the water has evaporated and the meat is dry. Be sure to check them every 10 min interval to avoid any spillage. Add in your spices, mix and let it infuse for 1 min. Turn off heat, set it aside.

Step 3: Prepping the cheese mix

Preheat the oven to 190 C. In a bowl, add in chopped feta cheese + Parmesan cheese and 1 beaten egg. Add some spices of your choice. Mix everything together.

Step 4: Assemble and bake

I highly request you to use or invest in a bigger sized baking dish – 10 x 15 inch. {I just used what I had at the time} I will Using my casserole dish – 8 x 8 inch, first start with the base which is the cooked meat sauce + boiled noodles – I layered them 3 by 3 by 3 with the meat and cheese mix as they keep stacking up till the top. Cover the dish with an aluminium foil and bake for 35 mins. After the first baking of 35 mins – remove the foil and let it continue baking for 30 mins without being covered and until the cheese melts.

Step 5: Cooling time: = 20 mins & serve.

Once fully baked, allow it to cool for 20 mins then cute into squares and enjoy.
